+‘Oh, we do like to be baa-side the seaside, oh we do like to be baa-side the sea!’
Imagine everything a British seaside holiday brings. From searching for crabs in rock pools, paddling in the sea, sand in your fish and chips, cheeky seagulls fancying your lunch, donkey rides along the beach, walking along the prom, and enjoying family entertainment on the pier. And if you’re lucky, some occasional sunshine! All of this is the inspiration for our holiday-ready sheep, Beach Boy!
Even the flock needs a well-deserved summer holiday. Shaun the Sheep has headed to the coast from Mossy Bottom Farm to enjoy the sea air and warmer temperatures. He is packing only an Edwardian stripey swimming costume, a straw boater, and a life ring to seas the day! Shell we pack our bags and join him?
Mike Ogden designed the Beach Boy sculpture for the Shaun in the City trail in 2015. Mike spent 100 hours perfecting this cheery design and even used a self-adhesive mesh (plasterers’ scrim) over the paint to reveal the fabric-like texture of his blue and white striped swimming costume.
You would have spotted this bright and cheery little lamb in his full sunbathing glory at Cascade Steps at the harbourside in Bristol.
Whether your British beach holiday destination is Brighton, Blackpool, Margate or Weston-super-Mare, you must add this baa-rilliant sand dweller to your collection. He’ll be the flag at the top of your sandcastle, the big win on the penny falls, or the first crab at the end of the line.
